Bio

Cavan man Kevin McGahern is one of Ireland’s most recognisable and versatile comedy talents. Since beginning his stand-up career in 2009, he has become a familiar face across Irish television, live comedy, and radio.

He is best known as the longest-running host of RTÉ’s hit series Republic of Telly, which he fronted for 10 seasons. Since then, he has presented a range of RTÉ programmes and documentaries including Kevin McGahern’s Fast & Furious, Cheap European Homes, and The Traitors: Uncloaked, featuring behind-the-scenes content, interviews, and celebrity discussion. As an actor, Kevin is widely recognised for his role as Sim Card in the cult RTÉ series The Hardy Bucks, now available on Netflix. He also appeared in the award-winning film The Redemption of a Rogue, which received multiple accolades at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2020.

A regular on the Irish comedy circuit, he performs at leading venues such as the Laughter Lounge and at major festivals including the Paddy Power Comedy Festival, Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Forbidden Fruit, and the Edinburgh Fringe.

In 2025 and 2026, Kevin earned widespread acclaim for hosting the Irish Film and Television Awards, with his performances receiving rave reviews. A highly experienced and engaging host, Kevin McGahern is an excellent choice for corporate events and award ceremonies.
