Alison Spittle
Bio
Alison Spittle is an award-winning writer, comedian and broadcaster whose work spans stand-up, television, radio, podcasting and theatre. Known for her sharp wit and warm stage presence, she performs across Ireland and the UK and is also in demand as a host and entertainer for corporate events.
She is the creator and star of the critically acclaimed RTÉ2 series Nowhere Fast and has appeared in the feature film Extra Ordinary (2019) and RTÉ’s Celebrity Globetrotters. Alison was a regular contributor to Republic of Telly, writing and performing her own segment A Guide to Mullingar, and has served as team captain on RTÉ 2’s Choose or Lose and presented RTÉ’s coverage of Electric Picnic. She also wrote and starred in Alison Spittle in Ireland, produced by Baby Cow Productions for Sky Arts.
In audio, she co-hosts the BBC podcast Wheel of Misfortune and created and hosts The Alison Spittle Show, featuring guests including Sharon Horgan and Adam Hills. She is also known for appearances on The Guilty Feminist and BBC Radio 4’s Grownup Land.
Her stand-up work includes multiple sold-out runs at the Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe Festivals, performances at major festivals including Electric Picnic and Body & Soul, and a headline show at Vicar Street. Her first play, Starlet, received five stars from The Sunday Times.
Alison is currently touring her new show Big across Ireland and the UK following an award-winning, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe. Big won the Comedian’s Choice Award at Edinburgh Fringe 2025, and the Best Performer Award at Dublin Fringe 2025. Inspired by a real-life encounter on a train in which a man told her to “sit down,” Alison explores how a single moment can spark wider reflections on identity, power, and self-perception. Big is a sharp, personal and darkly funny stand-up show about whether it is easier to change yourself than the world around you — a big show about the experience of making yourself smaller.
